For the founder.
For the team behind her.
Make space for the founder. Bring focus to the review.
Her Startup’s application and selection system serves two audiences with different tasks. Founders need to understand the requirements, prepare their documents and complete an application. The programme team needs to review, compare and make decisions across a cohort.
The design connects those tasks without giving everyone the same interface. A guided public website supports the founder; a denser staff portal organises applications, reviews and selection work.
- 01
For the founder
Explain what is required before asking for a long application.
- 02
For the reviewer
Bring the business, eligibility and review controls into a usable working context.
- 03
For the programme team
Make assignments, review progress and cohort composition visible.
Two audiences. One application journey.
The public application introduces the programme and collects the required information. The portal then carries that application through screening, human review and cohort selection.

Shortlist and cohort balance
Start with what the founder needs to know.
The application website sets expectations before the form begins: six sections, an estimated completion time and a document checklist. The writing explains the task, rather than relying on field labels alone.
- 01
A visible structure
Eligibility, personal details, business information, programme fit, documents and declarations form a clear sequence.
- 02
Preparation before input
The document checklist gives founders a chance to gather what they need before starting.
- 03
Progress that survives a pause
Answers save on the device as the founder moves through the form.
The whole selection cycle, in view.
The overview summarises the review workload and selection pipeline. A manager can see where applications sit, identify unassigned work and move into the queue without losing the wider picture.
The prototype’s application counts and cohort figures are demonstration data.
A review workspace built around the decision.
The portal brings application details and review work into the same workspace. Reviewers can assess the business, record their judgement and track their queue, while managers handle assignments and selection.
- 01
Context alongside judgement
Business details support the scoring and note-taking task.
- 02
A visible workload
Queues and assignments make the next review easy to identify.
- 03
Selection beyond a score
Comparisons and cohort balance support the final shortlist.
Keep the people in view through the final selection.
The shortlist moves from individual reviews to the composition of the cohort. Each business keeps its name, sector, region and key operating details visible.
- 01
A recognisable business
The selected company keeps its identity within the cohort view.
- 02
Context for the cohort
Sector and regional labels help the team read the group as a whole.
- 03
Traceable decisions
Review notes, assignments and activity stay connected to the application.
The people, businesses and totals in this supplied prototype are demonstration records.
The same identity. Two modes of work.
Code Violet and Founder Pink carry the Her Startup identity through both experiences. Clear status colours and a quieter interface hierarchy support the portal’s denser information. The application website pairs Recife Display headings with New Science body text; the portal prototype pairs Space Grotesk with Inter.

From a founder’s phone to the review desk.
The founder’s form becomes a single-column sequence on mobile. The portal adapts its navigation and dense content for a smaller screen, while keeping its status language and priorities familiar.
Reading orderContent follows the task in a vertical sequence.
Working spaceControls keep their own room on the smaller canvas.
Brand recognitionThe identity carries across both screen sizes.
Explore the two sides of the system.
Choose a view and a screen size. The embedded interface reflows and responds to your actions.
Keep screening and judgement distinct.
Defined eligibility rules can be checked consistently. Questions that require interpretation still need a reviewer. The interface makes room for both, rather than presenting every decision as an automatic result.
- 01
Defined eligibility
The prototype checks five explicit eligibility rules before human review.
- 02
Human assessment
Tech enablement and the defensibility of the value proposition remain reviewer assessments in the supplied prototype.
- 03
Connected operations
The supplied Laravel implementation includes review assignments, scoring, comparison, shortlist, analytics and communication workflows.

The application preview retains the original frontend and six-section behaviour, with submission and uploads disabled. The interactive staff prototype uses seeded fictional records and sends no email. Use the project links for the live websites.
Clearer applications. More focused review. One connected system.
